    I'm far from a carpenter but I build my own racks...I have five 10 tub (41 quart) racks that I built out of 3/4" melamine...I have six 10 tub (28 quart) melamine racks too that I built...I have shoebox racks that I built as well...All with 3/4" - The key is pre-drilling your holes...I have always used 2" sheet rock screws...Some of my racks I have had for many - many years and none have warped, bowed or split but I leave the lids on the tubs (except the shoebox racks) when I build mine - Keeps the humidity in the tub and won't warp your rack...The only downside to melamine racks - They are heavy but I wouldn't use anything under 3/4"...

    Alright thanks for the help guys 3/4" it is. I'm not to worried about the weight just put casters on it and it won't have to be moved more than a few feet if it does need to be moved.

    And I agree pre-drilling is the key to any wooden rack or cage for that matter.
