Re: New rescues with problems :(
RI- would the snake keep its mouth open all the time or just sometimes? She keeps her mouth closed more than she does open, im off to the vet.

Re: New rescues with problems :(
So far so good, i gave them baths and ALOT of them came off. We put on the mite treatment so now all we can do is wait. The one with RI is blind in both eyes from a bad shed( were guessing that its been bad for along time)
This is going to take a while to fix, but its great helping them out. Were sure if he had them any longer they would have died.
Re: New rescues with problems :(
Glad they are in a good home. good luck. keep us posted
Re: New rescues with problems :(
It was great of you to take on this rescue, they will have much better lives now.. I rescued a female ball not to long ago that had mites, it was gross lol. Thankfully I believe they are all gone now. Make sure you change your clothes and everything before you mess with your own snakes. Even though they are at a different house they can still get on your clothing and be transferred long distances. I hope the poor little blind girl will be ok with her RI.. I have a blind cornsnake, hes really old and has cataracts, he just has trouble knowing when its feeding time sometimes. Sounds like you are doing everything right, so I am sure they will all be ok now..
Re: New rescues with problems :(
Great thing you are doing here. I too am looking for adoptions in the Southern California area. Good luck with everything and keep us posted!
Re: New rescues with problems :(
Have you tried Petfinder.com? I know there are shelters out there that are in need of fostering and adopting out many different reptiles. In my area I think there was something like 5 pages of reptiles that needed adoption...
Re: New rescues with problems :(
Gave them their last bath of the day( they are dehydrated badly) and since the mite treatments been on them for a few hours there i saw both mites and when i think were eggs( very hard to see) I'll also try feeding in a few days, one of them is very skinny. Thank you for all the responces, the mites are already very down and they all look happy:)
Re: New rescues with problems :(
I saw in chat that you're treating with Sevin Dust - you may want to go ahead and order some Provent-A-Mite and treat their enclosures when that comes in. I swear by the stuff!
Turns out the girls I picked up have mites too - I re-treated their enclosures today and took them outside and wiped them down with Reptile Relief to give them immediate relief. The "enchi-ish" one had it the worst. Thank goodness they are in QT and that I always re-treat my existing colony's enclosure whenever I bring in a new animal as a pre-caution. But now I need to order another can of PAM - this can lasted me 2 years!
Re: New rescues with problems :(
Im ordering PAM asap, but untill then the sevin dust is working fine. Ouch, looks like mites is a common thing lately. I'll post pictures in a little bit.
