I typed in Yellow mice and looked at the photos, its a dead hit. I did not find any info on it though, care to explain?

"In the heterozygous state, Ay
produces several dominant pleiotropic effects, including
an increase in weight gain and body length, a susceptibility
to hepatic, pulmonary and mammary tumors, and a
suppression of the agouti phenotype, which results in a
yellow coat color."
Yes there are a lot of problems associated with yellow coloration but generally speaking.. I think.. the animal is a lighter yellow color that is usually lighter than that mouse looks. At least, it looks pretty dark/orangey on my screen :) Could be my screen, though but the pics look quite dark to me,
Might want to keep an eye on the little dude just in case.

Re: What "morph" is this
are they safe to feed off? he is of perfect size...
If it is only in All yellow mice then he is not one, the dark grey blotches are darker in real life, and he is a deeper orange than in the photos

Re: What "morph" is this
Like I said, I am not good with mice genetics, but when you breed two yellows together, the homozygous forms of the mice are lethal, resulting in a small litter of mice. Yellow's do have problems associated with obesity and some other things. I really didnt read that much into it, I dont keep mice.
I've read to stay away from the Piedbalds, the yellows and fawns (same allele affects these two shades), and the dominant white spotting (much like the pied).
This page here also states to stay away from brindle mice. I don't know if this is true or not, you must do your own research on mice colors.

Oh, and yes they are fine to feed off, but not good for production. Just stay away from yellows, don't breed them if you find them, and if you have a litter with yellows, it's best to not continue with that breeder.

Re: What "morph" is this
He looks like the Brindle mice that KLG has in her breeding colony. They're orange and the other color is a blueish-black striping almost. I can't tell if that one's striping is blueish or not, and I'm remembering the Brindle mice from the last time I was at NERD (it was during the summer)...but that's what that photo reminds me of.
EDIT: I did a Google search on Brindle Mice and came to the AFRMA's website. http://www.afrma.org/brindlemice.htm <--- they have a very good explanation of the Brindle's genetics and lots of photos. Your boy definitely looks Brindley to me!

Re: What "morph" is this
Yea, there is also something called the viable yellow, where both the het and homo forms are born, obesity is still associated with this yellow color. It's just a good general advice to stay away from yellows.
edit: Your guy sure does look like a brindle from the afrma site. I guess that's a done deal ;)

Re: What "morph" is this
Azure- it is a bluesh grey color.
So, are they rare? I'm really hopeing i get something from him, although ive yet to see him breed.

Re: What "morph" is this
I don't know anything about mice genetics. I only recognized him as a brindle because I was so taken with the brindles in KLG's colony. They're really very pretty mice. I would read the site linked above--the page on them gives photos, descriptions of breeding behaviors (it looks like it's a dominant gene?) and about possible problems with them (obesity). I'm not sure if they're "rare"...but they are lovely.

Re: What "morph" is this
Yeah, i love him to death! How old would you say he is? Again, he is the smallest mouse i have and he looks like he was just weaned.
