Thats crazy!!! I don't understand why it's permanente? Wouldn't your body eventually flush the metal out if he stopped using it!?!?
Your body won't flush out certain metals, like mercury. They will continue to build to toxic levels over many years, even decades. That is why the doctor was asking him to get tested for heavy metal poisoning, and to make sure his kidneys and liver were functional.
On a side note; I predict that this guy is going to spawn a whole new sub-culture of body modification. :rolleye2:
