You wouldn't have liked being raised in my home then.

To the OP, it says you're 22 on your profile so probably time anyways to think of your own home if you don't like the rules your parents have in their own home. :)

As a kid, I loved animals, and wanted to keep most anything that I caught in the woods when we went out to the hunting cabin. My mom was pretty tolerant as far as parents go, but she drew the line with this: the animals had to stay in my room and be cared for by me. To fail at this, meant that the animal either got let go (only in the case of native species such as garter snakes and frogs) or taken back to the pet store. I never "lost an animal, save for a bunny I got; he proved to get too big for me to handle and the pet store took him back.
I had things from salamanders, to fish, to native snakes and frogs, to an iguana. But living under my mom's roof, I had to respect her wishes and limit myself.
At age 27, living with my husband, I realize. There are still limits! If not out of respect for my husband and his likes/dislikes with animals.. with my pocketbook. So I would get used-to it, and live within your limits for whatever timeframe it is, and wherever you live. It is not bad; just put your heart and soul into what you DO have :) And you Will be out on your own eventually I hope; at that time, you'll have free rein (once the bills are paid and you get home from work!)

LOL. This reminded me of feeding crickets to my frogs back at my mom's house. Once, one got out. It hid in my bedroom closet and kept me awake! And could we find the danged thing.. nope. I seriously had to sleep on the couch because it was sooo loud.
