Re: Nose & Head Rubbing. Advice please?
I have a question. In your set up I notice what appears to be cut pcs of 2x4's or some type of block wood.
Is that pine? If so that is a no no around bp's unless sealed.
If memory serves me correct something about the fumes and sap they give off is not good for bp's as well as other snakes. It is a poison to them.

What hides does he have? Looks like the humid hide types. Is there a hide on each side of the heat gradient?
He has 1 humid hide and one that I made out of rocks (connected with aquarium glue). I have another humid hide but I have to clean it as of yesterday....it will be back in today.

Does he mostly rub his nose/head at a particular time - right after you put him back, etc.?
At night around 11pm or 1am

Is the screen secure? Or does he think he can benefit (i.e. Escape) by rubbing - actually trying to push his way out?
Very secure, I have cage clips on each side, he might think he can benifit, he rubs on the side of the screed I open the cage with.

Are there any other symptoms, like soaking in his water for long periods? How is his humidity?
He does not soak for long periods of time and the humidity is 60% I have a humidity gauge.

If he is mostly rubbing against the screen, you could help protect him by covering the inside with the old foil and duct tape trick - there is a thread about that around here.
    Thanks, I'll try that.

Ok, so I noticed you do not have a thermometer or hygrometer to measure the temps and humidity. I really suggest you buy one, you should not guess the temps, but know exactly what they are at any time. The Accurite thermometer/hygrometer from Walmart is $11, and works fantastic. Digital is much much better than analog and worth the little bit of money.
Thanks, I have an LCD thermometer in there but I should still get the Accurite, right?

there should be an EXACT duplicate hide to allow the snake to thermoregulate and feel safe in both hides equally.
There was, but I have to clean it it will be back in today.

I thought it was oak but now I'm not sure :O, I removed it just now just in case.

I'll get the foil/tape on the cage now.

Here's his new remodeled cage with lots more plants and hiding spaces. He has 2 identical hides now. ;)

if you have a digital thermometer already, there is no need for an accurite.

Oh, ok. It's in the back behind some plants which is why you can't really see it in the pics.
