Re: Video of my scorpions killing crickets
Good luck I hope all goes well :gj:
Re: Video of my scorpions killing crickets
i only feed my corns in containers outside of their cages, my boas/pythons will not have anything to do with it.
yes, when i first got both of my BPs they would only accept live from me.. i suggest just dropping in a live when the room is quiet, a little dark, the snake can't see you, but you are still close by if the snake gets injured because of the live mouse.
this is what i did to switch to f/t.. i fed my BPs live, the same day every week, for 2 months.. after they got on schedule, i would take a f/t that i blow-dried so it was not wet, and move it around in their cage as if it were alive.. and i would move it around in front of their hide, that worked well for me.. they did great! they've been eating f/t ever since, and they only refuse maybe once every 2 months, usually when going into shed.
i just ordered some hemostats though because my big BP can strike pretty close to my hand, so those are always a good idea to have when you need to move a f/t animal for one of your snakes.
if i don't blow-dry the mice/rats the snakes will not eat them, and if i just drop a f/t in either of my BPs cages they will not eat it, its a pain to get them to eat sometimes, but i'm glad they're off live now.

Unlike your corns (who often defecate a day or two after eating), you can't say a ball "just ate" because it happened to defecate on a certain day.
Mine often go weeks without any bowel movements, and I feed them every week.
That ball looks very thin and underweight. A few weeks of good care should get back on track. If he won't eat outside his enclosure, try leaving a hopper in his cage overnight and see what happens.
Re: Video of my scorpions killing crickets
Are you sure it is underfed? It wasn't that wrinkly before the shedding process. You're making me look like a bad guy.
Re: Video of my scorpions killing crickets
I don't see how that post made you look bad? You just got it...you helped him through the shed...you tried to feed him...didn't mean to come through as negative or personal in any way...
Re: Video of my scorpions killing crickets
Okay, thanks. I will feed him friday live.
I just remembered this is the invert forum.:8:

we're just trying to offer some help! let us know how the snake does when you feed. i always have had a hard time with my young female BP, i think its common to have some problems with the little ones.
your scorpions have a great feeding response! i never saw any of my AZ barks go after anything like that..

Man, I read a lot on many forums before I got my BP and I am still having problems. Like i didn't know they could hold their poo for a long time.
But only those 4/6 respond like that the other two are scared of their food and eat what the others left over.

Its hard to get everything right the first time, even if you do research, just make sure if you have any questions you ask! Tons of people will give you tips if you're having trouble in a certain area.
Every one of my barks seemed scared of the crickets, but sometimes I would see one with some food in its mouth.. I've never seen them actually get excited about food before, its cool to see that on your video
