How do you keep your humidity stable? Do tubs in general not need misting?

My humidity is stable because I keep the water bowl *halfway* (more or less, sorta kinda) over the heating pad. Science dictates that some will evaporate, thus upping the humidity. I hated science in school, but whaddya know, it came in handy. :O -lol-
