Re: A little heating advice...?
We have the cups on both sides of the tank, as we have a lamp on both sides.. a 60w on the hot, a 40w on the cool. I have the cups right under both lamps..
We only had the one lamp on the hot side for a while, but the cool side was just getting too cold. So now, I have the two lamps, but it dries the heck out of the tank. :sigh2:
That's what I mean - I can't find this happy medium. If my temps are where they need to be, my humidity suffers... and vice-versa..
I will try the moss - would that be better than what I'm using? The cups on tope of her hides are pretty full of water.. and like i said - I do try and change out the paper towels daily or every other day to keep it cleaner..
Re: A little heating advice...?
Gosh~ so much work!! :(
I would really invest in either a reptile cage or rack system (if you're getting more herps) and talk to Rich; it'll be so much easier for all of you and, arguably, better for the herp. Methinks it might be time to cut your losses on the glass tank.... ;)
Re: A little heating advice...?
I had great results with tanks, by doing this. I would spray down the inside of the tank, including the walls. I then covered the whole lid with plastic wrap, but did leave a bit for ventilation. I am not sure how you'd do this though with a light/lamp; don't start a fire of melted plastic! A tub would probably be better in your case.
Re: A little heating advice...?
I know a lot of people want to go with tubs. I am one of those resistors that likes the tank. The humidifier in the room next to the tank is the thing that saved the tank cause. It should be cold mist nebulizer (no filters).
Good luck with whatever you do! Glad you like BP'hood.
