Re: From out in left field!
Gratz, Jen! I love my pinny...he makes me smile everytime I open his drawer. Your girl is gorgeous, and I know she'll do the same for you.

I saw your Pin in yer gallery; he's nice looking! I noticed that maybe it is just the way they're marked; but it seems like they have no neck? Maybe it is just from the way that the neck stripes connect. I noticed it on yours and mine; it is a cute trait I think.
Re: From out in left field!
Why would you buy from a source that you said kept animals in less than ideal conditions?
Re: From out in left field!
I think you are thinking of her posts on Big Daddy, aka Allen Belcher.
Congrats Jen :D
Re: From out in left field!
Thanks :)
Fred is a good guy. His store is neat, the snakes are healthy and he actually owns and produced the only (to my knowledge) genetic stripe orange ghost. Wow, is that one stunning snake! If I only had a spare 13k lying around.. and didn't need to pay off my jeep.. and Mark's truck.. and about 15 other things.
Enough about my finances though; now for the long wait.
I was researching combos with spiders, pastels, and pins. I am absolutely stoked about eventually producing super lemon blasts... WOW.
Re: From out in left field!
Beautiful Pinstripe! I just love the reduced pattern. My female has quiet a bit more pattern, but I love her all the same. :)
Msoar16 is right. Fred Kick and Reptile Addicts have a negative reputation on the BOI. I actually had a bad dealing with him. He never sent the animal after I sent the money, I eventually got a refund, but still.
Reptile Addicts got raided a while back for animals kept in very poor conditions. I'm not saying that's how his animals are currently kept, but in the past, his animal husbandry has been less than ideal.
However, I have heard that if you deal with him in person, it's a lot safer.
Re: From out in left field!
I'm glad your happy Jen. I personally don't care for him or some of his practices (seen first hand & heard too much), but if you trust him that is all that matters.
Re: From out in left field!
I feel comfortable dealing with him in person. It is actually my husband who is, but a good friend of Mark's, is good friends with Fred. He vouched for him quite a bit and got their side of the Spca incident. They did not like the fact that the store housed their herps in racks. And Fred definately lost a lot; healthy, gravid females were taken and put down because they were lying on their sides like they often do, for example. I am always leary about news stories that dramatize the worst in a case. And I guess that there was a disgruntled former employee involved.
Whatever the case, their store and animals look great now. I talked to Fred personally last week, and looked over a bunch of his snakes; all were the picture of health visually. I received great customer service from Fred, who talked BPs with me for maybe an hour or so, much of that before he knew that I was a paying customer.
I am all for buying snakes over the internet, but in this case, this will be the first morph that I was actually able to see live before purchasing. It was great. The only problem was selecting her from the others!
I really do not think that their store would be around today if the Spca had such a valid case against them. I know of one store that had been on Harlem that got closed down because they truly were a scumbucket place; I think that the Spca realized that they were overreacting and uneducated in herps, and the rest is history. I looked through Fred's store (Pets Plus) and all I saw were uncrowded feeder-breeding tanks (mice and rats) clean fish tanks (another rarity in the weatern NY pet-store scene) and healthy BPs.
