Well, I got the snakes under the impression that quality frozen feeders wouldn't be this hard to find!

Chris B. & NightLad, no other rodents as far as I know are banned, only rats. (so breeding gerbils wouldn't be some underground operation, lol)

I wish I knew where other Albertans were getting their ratcicles, I don't really have any snake enthusiast friends to compare notes with. That's where the BP forums come in

Sounds like the gerbils would likely be the best bet. Make sure you can afford buying one from the store occasionally, in case your breeders haven't produced an adequate prey.

To answer your original post, there is nothing wrong with feeding Gerbils. I have a few adult Ball Pythons that eat mice, and do fine with them. One of them is a 2200 gram female that I got when she was 900 grams. She has eaten nothing but mice, and put that weight on in about 8 months. Adult Gerbils are larger than mice, so I see no problem with the size issue.

Also remember that one of the animals that Balls eat in the wild is Gerboas (sp?) which is a rodent in the same family as Gerbils. With that said, remember what NightLad said about finding a new owner of a Ball that will only eat Gerbils. I hate to hear of your predicament, but good luck in your future feedings.
