Re: Humidity probs-setup ?
Hmmm... do make sure there is enough open space for proper air circulation. If you seal too much of the top you will succeed in trapping humidity, but you will also hinder fresh air which will aid in the growth of mold. This will lead to all kinds of health issues.
I believe covering 2/3 of the vivs lid is a good estimate. I cover mine over the hot side, which increases overall humidity by at least 5-8%. Make sure that the shiny side of the foil is facing down into the tank - this will also help reflect heat.
I find it necessary to mist once lightly in the morning, and once heavier at night, and then let the humidity drop down to 50ish throughout the day. This creates a natural humidity 'wave', instead of maintaining a high humidity at all times, which can be just as undesirable. Carefully monitor the humidity levels in your viv and get to know the 'cycle' you need (it will differ depending on your own homes climate conditions).
Hope this helps. You have a nice looking setup!
Re: Humidity probs-setup ?
Scale rot is caused by a snake resting for extended periods of time on a substrate that is saturated with water. You'll find the right amount of misting for your set up with some tweaking and time.
Re: Humidity probs-setup ?
ooh ok thanks..i put the container in the back with some moist moss thats where he seems to have spent all night and day..i guess ill move th foil to the hot side but then where do I put the heat emitter??
