Where can you get good rats? Breed them :) I started out with a few from a local breeder lady, and still have stock from those originals to this day. I added a good stud from anoter local breeder/shop that I trust (he's rex) and would highly recommend healthy rexes as hearty, good stock.

Whats the diff between rexes and other rats my store has them and me or anyone else doesnt know the diff between them

A rex is a curly coated rat. A regular rat will have smooth straight hair. They won't have any special name for the straight hair, since it's the most familiar coat type, just Rat .
Genevive says that for her colony, Rex's are fantastic sturdy animals. I have only one rex, and we shall see if he turns out to be a big studdly male. I'm hoping so! :)

Well we've decided to just breed mice for now since I don't think we'll have the space for a rat colony. We hope to build our own mouse rack so we can fit more mouse tubs in a smaller amount of space (tanks take up too much room).
