Are there any other thermostats you would recommend? The ones listed on the care sheet are way out of my price range at the moment.

the reptistat500 is prolly the cheapest one that will do the job for now... Its not the greatest as it has like a 5-7 degree swing between when it turns off and back on but itll do the trick. Should be able to find one anywhere between 20-40$.

My whole thing is why by a cheap unreliable tstat when you can spend another 20 or so and get at least a johnson or ranco control, just sayin why skimp on the safety of your snakes.

I dont see why everyone has a problem with the repti500 thermos? Yea theyre not the best but I still use 2 of them and theyve been workin just fine for over a yr for me. It keeps the temps between 88-95 just fine so whats everyones beef with them? Is it not better than nothing?

Thats cool... I use herpstat pro as well as repti500 but that doesnt mean im not going to suggest another thermo if they dont have the cash to buy a great one right now. People make it seem like if they use a repti500 and not a good one their snakes gonna die or something... Its no different than picking up a tv... you can buy a 100$ one that will do what you need it to just fine... or you can spend 3000$ on a 50'' plasma... In the end you get the same results so what does it matter what they use?

The result is the well being of my animals. If i dont have the money then i save. Tv's dont have anything to do with my animals anyway.

Im glad you got my TV analogy? So your saying dont worry about getting a thermostat until you can afford a good one? This isnt about what you would do... its giving the OP the best advice for their situation... Who knows maybe itll take them 3-4 weeks to get enough money to buy a helix... is their snake supposed to just suffer until then?

Again I use both a repti500 and a Herp pro... only difference is a herp pro doesnt have such a big temp swing... other than that they both have the same effect on the "well being" of my animals.
