Hi,
Just wanted to jump in and ask about that?
When I was feeding crickets to my lizards etc I dusted them with the calcium powder only about 30 seconds before placing them in the enclosure and only enough that I knew they would be eaten quickly so they never got the chance to clean it off at all.
I made a small calcium shaker out of an old fish food tub, some fine mesh and a lip over half the mesh. This meant I put some dusting powder in the bottom of the tub through the mesh, crickets in on top of the mesh and shook vigorously. Once they were well coated I only had to rotate the tub so the lip stopped the powder from falling out and I could tip them straight from the tub into the animals tank.
It worked quite well and saved wasting a lot of powder by puffing it al over the place or the crickets fouling it.
Just thought it might help you.
**edit**
I forgot to point out I did gutload the crickets with a good diet but the calcium powder formed no part of that.

Hi,
To clarify I was asking why you are putting it on them in the first place?
I only ever put in the animals tank what I thought it would eat at one sitting - I kept the rest in a seperate container while I gutloaded them etc. Then I dusted that days dinner just prior to putting it in the tank to be eaten - they never lived long enough to wash it off themselves.
