Thank you, I just checked out the site and I think thats where Ill purchasing my supplies for heating :) And I was reading about how the thermostate can be a bit off and how the rheostat needs very controlled room tempature- so for those of you with colder houses, what do you do do keep the heat up?

I second belly heat and using flexwatt from Reptilebasics. However, for controlling the heat you definitely want a high quality thermostat.

I personally went with the Herpstat Pro. I like it because it can independently control 4 different heat sources which is cheaper than buying 4 separate thermostats.

I use an oil filled heater to keep the room around 80-85 year a round and I use the Helix DBS1000 on all my racks. :D

:gj: Rich is great, and he will also put the clips and cords on the flex for you for free.

Yea he will.. But I feel the need to clarify that you have to buy the cord and clips and he installs them for free.

Here is ours. My husband and I made it; I posted a thread last year about the building process. It is melamine that we had precut at Home Depot for free. I am heating it with a room temp of 80 degrees F. and Zoo-Med UTHs with rheostats. I am actually getting a new Helix for christmas (have one for my hatchlings and incubator; works GREAT!) and I will convert to Flexwatt on that.. I am counting the days. It is not that the UTHs are not good; they have served me well for years. But nothing beats a professional thermostat on flexwatt.

Did you every figure a way to keep your rack from sagging. (No pon intended) I was think of building one close to what you have. I was also planning on putting a back on it, and hope that it would keep the shevles from sagging.

    Thanks Richard
