Getting new cage!!!! need help with size

I found that different brands of heat pads are much better than others, i get way better heat out of the pad i got from reptilebasics than the ones i was getting from say my local pet store. That is with them stuck to the bottom of my tank with cyress substrate i still get the warm side temps using my thermostat. EBV so you live in cali. Yeah

how deep is your substrate? the deeper the substrate the less heat will get through, keep it to within an half to one inch
