    i disagree with you. i think substrate has a lot to do with it, as some have said before. bark holds a higher humidity content than lets say....sand. i think that substrate has something to do with it, it may not be a major part of it but its all parts in a whole.

    Unless you are using completly unsuitable substrates like sand and gravel as you said, substrate doesn't matter. People have perfect sheds on newspaper, paper towels, aspen, reptibark,and probably carpet.

    I personally have had clean sheds on reptibark and aspen. It is all about humidity and an accurate way to read it.

    As I said given proper conditions(humidity mainly), substrate doesn't matter.
