I dont really think its a stupid ad, anyone familiar with craigslist knows that you can not sell pets, you can ask for a re-homing fee. So he just found a way to get around listing the snakes as for sale, just a relly high price for a piece of junk tank! Smart guy.

Who bred all of the hets? Do you have paperwork on them or are they just assumed hets?

Craigslist has a policy against selling animals. Most people on there ask for a rehoming fee. Obviously this person is wording it this way so as to stay within their policy. Not as stupid as it may appear at first glance.

This was discussed in another thread, and I felt then and still do that rewording the ad to violate the TOS is a way for BYBs to sell animals without going to the trouble of maintaining a website. It's more common with mill dogs, which I think is what CL had in mind, but his ploy is still a direct violation of the CL TOS. I frequently flag down obvious puppymill and BYB ads, but have so far abstained from flagging reptile ones as I think they are a much smaller industry and not as exploited as dogs are. The nature of the difficulty of reproducing many snakes necessitates a more thorough knowledge and better attention to their care than that which many mill and BYB dogs get.

*shrug* I'm not an enforcer, that's just my viewpoint.

I was more amused by the idea of non-visible hets from some guy on CL.

Oh, and full disclosure I did contact him about one of his pastels that he advertized in a later ad (didn't realize it was the same guy until he replied to this thread today) but that didn't work out.

I dont think that Craigslist would be the best place to reptile shop. You probably would on occasion make a good find when somebody has to get rid of a reptile for some reason such as leaving for college and family wont care for reptile or the owner died or some such thing. Mostly I thing that you would be incurring a greater risk of bringing a disease or parasites into your home or a snappy snake that has never been handled. But If you were out to rescue snakes you would probably find snakes in need of rescue there. In my area there is somebody posting that they are looking to free reptiles all the time on Craigslist and my impression is that they sell them.
