If you look at a chart of spider crosses, they are all called bees for the most part. It has nothing to do with the pastel ingrediant as that is just one type of bee.

Ah yes your correct on the whole queen bee thing... brain fart over here... im still at work so thatll happen... I guess my only issue is that when the "bee" was first made it was a pastel and a spider correct? So to me anything that carries the name bee should contain a pastel and spider... I just dont see how mixing a spider with something makes it a bee when the original bee was a spider x pastel.

I guess, but there are many types of crosses. The honey bee which is a orange ghost spider, and i think is a fitting name. The woma spider has a pretty cool name too ... the WannaBee. :)

I guess you will just have to make your own new morph, then you can name it something you find suiting ... lol.

The BEE comes from the spider gene obviously there is no just bee its a bumble bee and then all the other combos still use the bee and so in terms of everything else maybe u should ask why all morphs that contain pastels dont say bumble in them.

Thanks fearless you just supported my case with that post... so your saying the "bee" in bumbe bee comes from the spider gene... I coulda swore a bumble bee was named bumble bee bc it looked like a bumble bee??.. now your gonna say the "bee" comes from the spider gene and be "bumble" is a pastel?? That sounds even more rediculous... a spider gives a morph the name bee? Why wouldnt a spider give another morph the name... ummm... spider??

Fearless I think you couldnt be any more wrong with your explanation of where "bumble bee" came from... Its simple... its black and yellow like a bumble bee... what a concept. From then on whoever mixed a spider with other morphs (excluding the lemon blast and albino spider) and came up with a new morph they decided to throw on the name "bee" when really it should have been spider.

The vertical striping could have something to do with it too, ya know ... stripes like a bee?

I am not sure why you feel the need to argue about it though. It's not like any of us here came up with the names, and there is not much you can do about it. If you are really upset about it, just refer to them by there base ingrediants then ... eg ghost spider, lesser spider, and so on.

I'm not arguing it... im not mad... im not upset... My original post said "am I the only one who feels this way" ... I dont expect the names to get changed bc none of us named them... all I was asking is am I the only one who thinks the naming system is a lil screwed up.

A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.

Who cares what they name is, they look awesome. Thats all that counts in my book. It is what it is.

I agree that it is weird that they are all called bee's, but i don't lose sleep over it ... lol.

Well, I suppose it makes about as much sense as calling Python Regius a Ball Python ;).

The naming conventions aren't that atypical. You take a look at botany and the common names they give flowers are often so out there it's hard to understand what they were thinking.

Anyway... the naming convention for Bee's isn't really that complicated. If the name has "Bee" in it, it means it has the spider allele, but if it doesn't have "Bee" in it, doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have a spider in it.

It's annoying at times, but at least it's better than recessive genes. I still consider naming a new "line" of a morph after yourself is about as pompous as it gets :D.
