Thank you for the picture, it does help tons. I don’t have the full version yet but I will defiantly have to upgrade.

What are the plastic holders that you have called? I think that the magnet is a fabulous idea!

I was at office depot and found clear holders.

Heres another program. Its free takes a bit to get working. I think theres alot more to it. But alot harder to get set up. The other link i gave you for the degei. That one is a free demo but to unlock it you have to pay for it. This one is free. But to me alot harder to use.But does have alot of stuff the degei doesnt have.

i just downloaded both of the advised programs and i prefer the look of degei for the fact that its simpler and i dont need the extra functions.

i do however have a few records already incorporated in the download which i cant delete.
does anyone know how do get rid of them?

    thanks, Mike...

I use business card software. I put the name, sex, hatch date, species, morph and the dame and sire on it. I also put a small picture of the morph on it for kicks. I have business card protectors that have a self stick back on them and stick it to their tub. I keep all the other info like feedings, sheds and the excrement on a spreedsheet.

Mine's a little longer than others but I got the idea from Adam. First 3 letters of the morph (or nor if its normal. i.e. Possible Het Pied would be poshetpie) then a dash and M or F dash year of birth dash sequential #. For adults that come in I keep track of the last number I used. For hatchlings I start fresh every year at 01. So something like ALB-M-06-30. It works for me. I put a brother p-touch label on every tub and I use index cards to track feeding so the ID goes on there as well. Wow that was some rambling...

I haven't got into the computer record keeping, although it looks pretty cool! My hatchlings get code letters which help identify parents, for example I hatched a clutch from reduced pattern and a pastel. So all the hatchlings are RP then a number(1-5) for 5 hatchlings them M or F for sex then the year 07. Adults are named and numbered. I use colored stickers on my tubs so I can identify at a glance what snake and sex. I use blue dots for boys and yellow for girls and write in names, codes or initials. I leave a red dot on a tub if a feeder(usually dead) had been left in there so I don't overlook it(stinky). Sometimes a green dot sometimes if in shed or some other side note.Tubs with 2 dots(yellow and blue) means breeding pairs. On my cards i keep track of feeding sizes/dates, shedding dates, weights, dates put with breeding partner, ovulation date(if I see it) and dates of medication if needed. I think thats about it.

I think you have to have the full program before you can delete them. I cant remember for sure. You can try go to edit then down to delete current record (master and all detail records). You will have to do that for each record that you want to delete. There might be a faster way to do all of them at once but im not sure. Think i just went through and deleted each one. Hope that helped some. I like degei one better too easier to use. Dont have to do alot to set it up like the other. The other one does have alot of stuff i would like to see in degei but not that big of a deal.

I also use Degei. I just print the cage cards out on ordinary paper, and use a small piece of scotch tape to attach them to the bins. This doesn't leave any stickiness behind when peeled off again. No need to have a big card when it's just going to get reprinted every week.

Degei isn't very expensive, so I just bought the full version. That unlocks all of the locked features (such as the rack tool and the ability to delete records, including the sample records).

Re: Labeling/Record keeping type of question
yeah i definately cant delete the existing records, thats not a problem but when i tried putting in an old date of 19/05/2007 it wouldnt let me. as you know the its format is to put the day, then a number for the month and automatically comes up with it in words, and then the year. however it wont allow me to have a day over 12.
i guess i'll have to get the full program unless anyone knows whats wrong
