I don't see how sheer physics hasn't desyroyed that last car. It isn't aerodynamically correct! A friend of mine has a dragster (and tons of $$$$ to re-build it every race!!! :O ) and races frequently, and there's so much more to it than wheels and a big engine, the slightest thing can throw everything off. I'm stumped.

I would be worried that I might be used as a pinball on the freeway

Yeah I really don't know why I have such affection for little cars. I really don't like big pickups and SUVs personally to drive. I can definately appreciate others' trucks when they fulfill a purpose and are used for what they are made for, but I see most of them as wasted space and weight to lug around that I do not need. Then again, I drive a little Jeep Wrangler and don't have kids; it has enough room for me to haul groceries and animal feed without being a huge white-elephant mobile. And it is big enough for passengers, but small enough to deter the ride-seeking lunchtime crowd at work.. we usually would all just ride in my friend's minivan, lol. But I do mock my husband b/c he has a rather huge Nissan pickup that he bought when he was doing construction more often; now that he tattoos, it is so huge and unnecessary but then again out here, in the winter, you are crazy not to have 4x4.. and our driveway is about a quarter mile of hilly ice come January..
Now if I were one of you who live in a warmer climate and did not have 5 feet of snow to deal with, I would be all about having smoething small and eco-friendly. But to each their own.

I just see it as one of those funny-cars to look at and be entertained. I definately agree that it does not seem logical as an actual serious racer to set world records with :) I don't think that many of these small cars are even driven; all of the pics of them I see are in museums and at shows, and I never see them on the road on a regular basis. Then again, many show cars are almost never driven.. trailered everywhere.. I always say.. what if the trailer gets crashed into and destroys the car anyway; why not drive it! ;) (if legal..)

This car is going to be distributed by select BMW locations around the States starting this spring. My mother's best friend has already "reserved" one, and I got to see it when I went to NC over Labor Day weekend (Greensboro was one of their spots - they had so many people interested in them, that they extended the number of days they were there). There was a one hour wait to test drive them, they had four of them that people lined up to drive.

The passenger area was quite roomy! Not enough storage space for me though.

Neat! If I owned one, I would laugh hysterically as I drove by packed gas stations and refueled seemingly once a month.. :)
