omg! i watched the VMAs just so that i could see her much anticipated performance. i've never been a fan of hers but one thing i couldn't deny is that she could put on a hell of a performance... even if it wasn't to my taste... but this... right away she stumbled twice. horrible lip synching, zombie walk, blank face as if she was trying to figure out what the next move was supposed to be again... seriously the worst performance i've seen in my life!

and there were so many excuses from her and her 'people!' her boot heel was broken. she was upset about sarah silverman's upcoming speech. she was thrown off because they didn't allow the criss angel collaboration. (sp) she had been sick all week. she was stressed from the custody battle... i'm sure there are more that i haven't heard yet.

i just have to say that when you are a performer, by choice mind you, there's nobody to blame but yourself for a bad performance. so many excuses... if she wasn't ready for her comeback, she should've waited. it's that simple.

I actually heard that they had a completely different dance routine planned out that involved Criss Angel doing illusionary stuff, but that the week before the VMAs, execs decided that it would be too complicated, so they changed her routine the week before the show. I think it's pretty obvious she didn't know the steps to the dance...and I think I'd be pretty unenthusiastic of some higher-up did a switch on me a week before my big "comeback".

I more feel sorry for her because every media outlet has trashed her performance (it did suck)--but more because they trashed her weight. Good grief! She's had two kids and she isn't fat by anyone but Hollywood's standards.

Anyway...I feel bad for the girl.

Then again, Criss Angel said she only showed up for two rehearsals.

I agree, she didn't look fat to me, but I don't see her as a victim in any of this.

I never had any use for her music personally. The American music scene in general is pathetic nowadays. Granted, much of the world lives by American acts.. but I am turning more toward my old favorites nowadays in favor of the crapola that hits the "top ten" in this country. With a few rare exceptions of course.. but even those are just mostly rehashing the greats of yester-year.. sigh.

it doesn't matter WHAT her excuse(s) are... bottom line... she's a performer and if she had to work on her routine for 10 hours to get it right before the show... she should have done that. period.

    no excuse excuses her performance.

I agree she's not fat, thick...is more accurate, at least she used to be hot.

Class, brains, a sense of self, a respect for your talent and your audience....those things all went by the wayside a long, long time ago when it comes to a lot of the current stars. I feel old just saying this stuff, but it's to my mind very true. There's very few famous people I would want any of my children to consider a role model be that in the entertainment or sports fields.
