The scales on his head arn't raised, just dull. He started a small area months ago, and I asked the vet I was taking him to then about it and he didn't seem concerned that it was anything serious. As the sheds have gone on, so have the soft, dull areas increased. I have done the soaks, mineral oil thing, and it gets larger and more small areas around the others. I am trying the foil to see if that changes anything. It loks some like the areas on the BP in rabernets picture. Though those seem to be divided like scales, my bp ha a solid smoothed area.

    Hi,

I'd actually suspect that of being a negative factor rather than a positive thing - several people have reported individual scales shedding off with mineral oil so I have always just stuck to water.

That is however just my personal opinion and not based on experimentation.

I wouldn't do anything to him at all like that until he had actually had a bad shed and had skin stuck to him.
