Was there anything else cool? Did I miss out? I decided not to go; just gonna wait for NARBC in Feb.

Um did you miss out? That is tough to answer, I guess it depends on what you wanted to see, what you may want to buy and how much effort it would take to get there. I would say if you live with in 30 minutes or so of the show and like snakes and snake people you missed out. Just talking to folks and seeing the animals was worth the cost of addmission to me. It is no where near as big as the NARBC but it is growing and a good show with a lot of local vendors.

Some of the snakes I saw that are not always available at shows this time included.

Adult proven house snakes - Though this was my doing as I contacted Dr. Ford and asked him to bring them.

Calabar Pythons - Two really nice ones

    Beauty Snakes and Cave Rats

Some nice reasonably priced adult or near adult boas including some smaller sub species like Nicaragua - etc.

Some yearling Hog Nose including some Het Pairs that would be ready to breed this spring

Quite a few reasonably priced adult or near adult ball pythons. Like 60 bucks range for 12-18 month old well grown animals. These were all normals but some nice ones none the less and to me getting a well started ball is a good idea. For anyone that wants to learn to breed balls but is not ready to spend big bucks I know you could have made an offer of say 100 bucks for a pair that would breed this spring and there were about three vendors that would have taken it. Again none were "morphs" but there were some nice enough I almost bought one or two, just to have another species for my shows and what not.

There was a really nice and really big Irian Carpet Python for like 150, good deal for a new would be breeder.

All in all it was about the best show I have seen thus far for the Lonestar Expo. If they would market it just a bit better and perhaps make better deals to the vendors I think it can really grow. It is a big turn around though that is for sure. I felt say 18 months ago it was going to die off, I am happy to report it is now growing and getting much more deverse.

When I go and buy I try to spred around my purchases, I would suggest others do the same. If you want a pair of corns, buy what you want from two breeders etc. When breeders more then cover the cost of the table they come back, when they loose money on a show, well, you know the result of that.

Very cool, sounds like it was better than the one I went to earlier in the year. I just remember the one earlier in the year having nothing but a bunch of bearded dragons, normal baby bally pythons, and generic amel/anery/snow/normal corns. There was just nothing interesting or really worthwhile - I was disappointed. But it sounds like it was better; I'll probably have to make the trip down next time.

I've actually thought about vending there, but just am not sure if I'd make anything. I'd be selling more of the high end corns with cool hets and what not and didn't get the vibe that they'd sell well after my last experience. Maybe I'll give it a shot anyways next time around...

Thanks for the report on it.
