    i'd say for a big female too small, a male.. don't think he'll mind, they never use the space anyways lol

    I like the sounds of that. Heating two cages with one heat source. A good rule ot thumb and what I've read many times is a length of 9" per foot of snake. So a 3' snake needs aprox. 27" of cage length. This has worked for me for many years. Some snakes will want a snugger home and some may want more. The only way to know is how well they eat. I keep my largest snakes, both 5'+ in 4' x 18" x 18" enclosures.
