Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
no, thats the paper towel that was i nthe container with him. I did have him sitting a warm towel and got a lot of it off, but hes so small and fragile I am afraid of hurting him, plus he just ate so I have him in a humid tub with a bunch of balled up newspaper hoping that it will help scrape that crap off.

Whats wrong with shipping them in a container like that?

Hi,
I think he was more referring to the condition of the animal rather than the packaging but I might be wrong.
But if that came from a breeder or professional in that condition I for one would like to know who they were so I could avoid buying from them in the future. If its a rehomed rescue that was passed on quickly or something of course that's different.
The albino is cute as a button though.:)

The Dr. is correct no problem shipping them in tubs like, I was referring to the condition of the snake. From my experience snake with bad sheds like shed bad the first time, the second, the third and are a constant problem. Soaking them helps and you eventually get the bad shed off BUT the next time they go into shed you will have the same problem again. They almost seam to double shed all at once.
Be-careful with the size of your meal choices as well with animals with shed that bad. I think that the shedding issue is actually one having to do with the kidneys or liver. A meal of what would normally be considered acceptable size very well could end up killing that animal. Again I do not know why and I've only see that once before with captive born animals but I've seen it many times with CH.

That snake definitely looks like it needs to see the vet. I would have a fecal done on him, both direct smear and float, possibly centrifuge too. What was the breeder's reason for it not eating?
He may have a parasite problem that is preventing him from gaining weight, it could be a genetic disorder such as a liver shunt, it could be alot of things. Definitely keep his meals small though, you don't want to shock his system and cause his kidneys or liver to fail.
I only have one picky feeder, but once she got settled she pounds those mice. She's up to 3 a week now and is doing great. She's around 700g and is an 05, but is shedding normally and doing quite well. I keep her in a 15qt tub because if I move her to a 32qt, she stops feeding and gets very reclusive. I try not to handle her alot either, just when I clean her tub.

I would be getting my money back for that male "het pied" and to be honest I would not even trust it to be het pied. Your albino does look nice though. I also agree with Neil. Feed him smaller meals until you get him in better shape. Big meals like that are tough on their system when they are in such bad shape. Also make sure you are very strict with quaranteening all of these new animals. If it were me I would seriously consider buying a het pied male from another source and just keep that guy as a pet. A reputable breeder would not have sent that snake to you and if he can't be trusted to send you healthy animals than he certainly can't be trusted to provide you with an animal that is actually a het. I just would not want to spend all that time trying to prove him out only to find out that he is a normal. Good luck

Re: Oh snap! FedEx stopped by this morning..
I bought all the snakes from a member here on the board, along with a bunch of other items as well. so the male pied didn't really have it's own price. Once the rack system comes in and I get everyone settled in I am gonna take some pics as I am actually going to sell off my whole collection, including my other 2 normals I currently already own. I don't have a for sale post up yet as I dont have all the items in my possession for me to take pics of. All the other snakes look great, and you all saw the albino. The only one that is having a problem is the het pied. I will hang on to and help the het male as much as possible, but will let those interested in the collection know the condition hes in. I will say this, the price for everything I have to offer is crazy cheap.
Hopefully with time he will recover and get to where he needs to be.

OK...maybe I missed something...but I read this as you just bought 4 snakes and supplies and are going to flip them around with 2 more and sell them?
If so why did you buy them to begin with? Or did I miss this somewhere?

No, you didn't miss any thing. I had bought the collection and all the supplies with the intent of keeping them and breeding them down the road, but some stuff has come up and I am gonna let the whole collection go, I decided this before the snakes had come in, so the condition of the het pied has nothing to do with it, if it did, I wouldn't be doing everything I can to help it. I feel awful for the condition this poor snake is in. It does seem odd to buy a whole new collection then turn around and resell it, but some times :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: happens. I am selling the whole collection for the same price I paid, and actually cheaper since I will be throwing in what I owned prior to the new snakes. The for sale post will explain everything in more detail with pics of everything and the crazy low price.
but to stay on topic, this is the first time I have held an albino, on top of that, one that I own, and its an amazing feeling. :D :D

I can respect that...just thought I had missed something. Hope it all works out for you. :)
