Its only started doing it lately. Which is why I started this thread. I used to have it set at 94. And get readings from 92 to 93 or so. Maybe that's just on off thermostats for ya.

Yep...one of the drawbacks vs. the Helix (proportionals).

Lower your main setting 1-2* if you think it's topping at 96-97*, then when it kicks off, you'll still be in the 94-5* range for high end. 96* shouldn't hurt, (I PERSONALLY wouldn't go any higher) but you're safer around the 94-95 setting.

Yeah I'm gonna keep fiddling with it. Turning 22 in a couple weeks.

So I'm gonna be ordering some more helix's. Which will fix the problem. Just a hassle until then. Thatll make 4 helix's. Haha

Its set up correctly. The only probe inside the tub is the thermometer. On the bottom of the tub underneath the newspaper.
All my thermostat probes are taped to the bottom/underneath the tub.

I was just wondering if I'd get more stable temps if the thermostat probe was taped to the actual flexwatt. And not the tub bottom.

Could be you would, but didn't your first post say that the thermometer probe (for the hot side, right?) is stuck to the SIDE of the tub??? If that is the case, put it closer to the bottom. Then it is measuring the ACTUAL heat of the bottom of the tub more accurately.

For my JCs and accu-rites, I have the probes right next to each other so they're getting the same information...I also have them taped inside, but I also have aspen over the top. My snakes aren't burrowing, but they do occas. make a small hollow by pressing the bedding down. With my JCs set at 1* differential, the warmest has been 95* and any given time.

You may just have to tweak YOURS a little bit. (the targeted temp)

No if you read the earlier posts the thermostat probes are underneath the tubs. So no worries there.

As far as the jc goes. I was considering using it for an oil filled heater this winter. But all the oil heaters I've seen have built in thermostats in em. Digital ones. So maybe I won't need it.

Or maybe a back up? Who knows. Besides I don't even know what a 2 month old jc would go for.
