You say the tub is about 1/4" above the flexi tape. Like Azure mentioned, tape your UTH directly to the bottom of the tub with aluminum tape. You will most likely find that it will bump your temps up. I would imagine your loosing quite a bit not having it secured to the tub.

Did you remove a bit of that bedding though? That much bedding is going to prevent a good bit of heat from coming through. Try to keep it around 1/2" or so and it will help alot.

This is what I was going to say (but got beat to it! ;) ) Air space will rob the heat, and it'll never get to the tub. Remember, your heating the flexwatt to the temp that the thermostat is set to. You need to transfer as much of that heat into the tub as possible. Remember also, that anything hot enough to burn plastic ain't gonna be good for snakes. So setting the thermostat at anything under 100 degrees is completely safe (assuming proper temps in the cage).

Removed some substrate, and bumped the heat up, I am taping it to the tub as we speak, I'll see how it goes, my humidity is horrible.. 90% I need to lower it, I have tons of holes though...

lol so now the flexwatt isn't working..
I think I'm gonna remove the clips and get my neighbor to solder it tomorrow.
Any tips on how to solder it?

Scrape the plastic off until it looks aluminum (past the copper color). Use flux paste, and put some solder on the flexwatt and the wire. Make sure the solder on the wire is good and hot (melted) and touch it to the solder on the flexwatt. Hold the iron there til the solder melts together. You're done!
Well, except for insulating it after it cools. I use the rubber tool handle dip stuff you can get at Lowes and just paint it on with a q-tip.
