Re: Do people up north ever go to Daytona??
I flew out from Tucson, AZ last year....I'd say that's just about as far as most folks from "up north" travel. ;)

But yeah....folks fly/drive in from all over. It's an amazing gathering of herp enthusiasts and will be an annual trek for me regardless of where I'm living, so long as I'm at all capable of making it.

Where did I say anything about it being difficult at all? As the buyer, there is nothing to do, all the work falls upon the US seller. And there is nothing hidden at all.....

Basically it's just a long wait, anyone up here will tell you that the standard wait time is between 6-12 months, anything quicker would be considered very fast and uncommon. In fact, you're the 4th person I know of that has been waiting 8 months or more right now, a friend of mine just received his snakes from the US...13 months after he paid for them :(

I was merely just pointing out to Jonny that its not as simple as paying for them and taking them home :)

    Thanks gang! :community

I kind of wanted to bring one home right away but I gues if I like the snake so much I could wait... depending...

Sounds like you guys have way too much fun down there...
I will have to keep looking at cheap flights and such and work my way down down there at some point...

I'd just like to bring a snake home, kinda like souvenir but not only that, I wouldnt be buying one from a pet store with mites! YUCK!

Thanks for the input... I will keep looking into it!

Do people usually have like a central place they hang out around there??

All the fun happens at the Hilton on the patio.

well....maybe not ALL the fun :devilish: but most of it anyway!

This was my first year going and I live in Vrginia. It was the best.

The "Big Show" is a great time also even if you aren't purchasing a snake. There is soooo much to look at.

it's not weird at all to spend that kind of money on going to a show.

Think of it as a vacation!

I have traveled all over the USA going to Cichlid conventions. I would definitely go to Daytona but unfortunately it is at a time of year that I cannot make the trip :(

you should go for it! the memories will be well worth it, whether or not you buy anything at all. I often plan my vacations around my hobbies...I think it's totally normal :rolleye2:

    yep...It totally is a vacation!

well...I went without Jeff and the kids so go figure. ;)

    to the op ~

If you reseve your room in advance it is less $.

and if you get a friend to go you can split the cost.

More hot guys are always welcome btw.

    just sayin'

    ;)

You will see things in Daytona you may never ever see again in person.
