Re: Going away to college...what do I do with my snake???
You may be able to find someone willing to do that... Which you could probably still accomplish by posting in the wanted section... But you need to figure out if you're going to be able to pay for his care while you're away. The person who would be taking your snake would be responsible for the electric bill, his food, and his care, so you I hope you'll be able to reimburse them somehow.

This is why I'm really glad my parents love my snakes (most of them were my dad's idea). I have to leave them home while I'm at college, but having a four month long summer break is a nice chunk of time to be with them...

If you can't find it a home before you get to college you could try to hide it, but if it's against the rules to have and you think there is a good likelihood of getting caught then keep trying, I'm sure you could work something out. Keeping the snake in a tub set up will make it less obvious, and something you could hide under your bed or in a closet.

My boyfriend is allowed to have snakes at his apartment, so he watches one of my bps. I get to see her via webcam :D

    Good luck!

And let this be a reminder to teenagers who want snakes but don't have willing parents... when college comes... have a plan!

If you were not so far away I would offer to hold it for you, but thats a long way away.

Have you tried asking any of your friends that are either A) Not going to college B) Already done with school or C) Be able to keep it at college with them ?

i would just see if you cant get your roommates to let you keep him there. under the bed perhaps? just mention it to them if you can.

i mean. it is "just" a ball python.

i dunno. personally i'd ditch the dorm and get an apartment >D i could never let my snakes go.

Same here shhhli. I could never let my babies go. For just that reason, my fiance and I are getting an apartment together soon so we can have all our babies in the same place. We are both going to college and do not live in a dorm. (Dorms are nice but they don't allow pets.) When I was going to college in southwestern VA, our dorms only allowed small fish bowls/tanks. I had a small tank with two anoles and technically, that was against the rules, but my RA said she wouldn't say anything as long as they didn't get loose. Though a snake probably would have been different.

hey man i am/was in the same position you're in...i live in jersey and go to school in boston and they're strict about pets, you can't have anything that doesn't swim and doesn't fit in a 10 gallon tank...however RA's don't usually make that many rounds and u usually know before hand so whenever that happened i just hid it under my desk...they literally just walk in and out and that's it...i had my tank out all the time it was fine just keep the door closed...RA's usually knock before hand.
