yea when that one lady told me she required a home visit, i was tempted to meet her at the door with my boa around my neck...

i think they are so radical they do discourage people from adoption, and then people end up buying an unhealthy rat from a pet store. when it dies less then a year latter they think it's normal, so they go back and get another. even the sites i read about breeding rats, they make it sound like by breeding rats you are some how hurting the rat population. i don't get it.

Those home visits, as well as the breeder keeping tabs on you for as long as you have the rat, are the reason I never got rats from a pet rat breeder. What a ridiculous invasion of privacy.

I brought it up on a pet rat forum and basically got flamed by everybody. They see no problem with the practice, and couldn't understand why I was bothered by it.

In my years of adopting rats from breeders, I have NEVER had a home visit.. I'd understand it for a rescue dog/cat organization, but not for pet rats... I keep snakes on the other side of the room, and the rats don't even know they are there.
