Those are a great idea, I like it... I love ikea too. They've got some tub storage solutions that could EASILY be converted to a reptile rack, too..

My only problem with those bowls is the static size. I've got dividers in my 32qt tubs for my smaller animals (2 in 1 tub, basically) which requires 2 bowls. With 2 bowls, you have twice as much water surface area and this can have a drastic effect on the humidity... any suggestions there?

I'd try it out first and see if humidity is an issue. It may not even be, even with the extra surface area. I use these in 12qt, 28qt and 41qt tubs and humidity is fine in all of them. If it is an issue, you could add more holes in your tub for more ventilation and that hsould help.

Agreed, more holes would help. But more holes = less retained heat, and I'm already having issues with my cool side temps...

    Kindof a rock/hard place issue... :-(

Or just don't put water in one of the bowls. Add a rock or something to keep it weighed down.

What about more holes close to the heat source side and not on the cool side?

Not sure I'm understanding your response here...

I have to have water in BOTH bowls as the animals are separated within the tub by a solid divider.

AH, ok. Thought you were wanting to put two bowls in the same tub(which you are), but I also thought there was only one snake per tub too, haha.

Well, you could use a small ramekin for a waterbowl and use one of those bigger bowls as a hide. The smaller dish shouldn't do too much to the humidity.

That's basically what I'm trying to do with the gladware bowls. I've got one set that are about 4" in diameter, and a second set that's about 2.75". The surface area for 2 of the smaller ones is very close to the surface area for the one larger one, so that should work out to about the same rate of evaporation, and subsequently the same humidity...
