blood splatter (spatter?)

sometimes when the snakes strike, if they get the rat's eyes, some blood will flow.

Yeah, I've seen it flow often, but never...explode, for lack of a better word. I suppose snake keeping is not for the faint of heart.

I nudged her a bit and I don't see any blood underneath her. She has repositioned to the normal way that she occupies her hide, which I figure is a good thing. I'll wait until tomorrow evening to lift her out to be sure (and then clean the blood...).
