Re: Failed feeding =( - not coming out at night
I completely agree with Deb (GA). It's fine to want to switch a snake's type of prey or method of feeding, but right after you get it isn't the time to do this in my opinion. This snake has eaten a certain prey, a certain way for it's short life. The priority right now as far as I'm concerned, would be continuing to support that, set down a good solid feeding routine, then at a later date when you are more comfortable with the snake and it is fully settled into things...work on the live to f/t switch. Do be aware that some ball pythons will resist any switch in prey type or feeding method. Many will eventually take to the change but some will not. There's just no way to tell which is which until you go through it with that particular snake.

 IMO this is the way to go.
Re: Failed feeding =( - not coming out at night
Just from my experience. I recently acquired two female hatchlings who were fed three times on live fuzzies. I let them acclimate for 10 days, then attempted to feed them f/t fuzzies. I tried this for 4 weeks with no luck. The following week I tried live fuzzies and had immediate success. They now have successfuly fed 7 times on live prey. Will I switch to f/t later? Maybe, but for now I will continue to feed live. I also feed my other two BP's responsibly live.
Just a story based on my experience. Hope this helps with your situation.

I think this says it all. Even though you wanted to feed f/t, you recognized that for these particular hatchlings it wasn't working and offered them what they preferred to eat and had success with that. Big, mature snakes can go quite a long time not eating but tiny hatchlings...not so much. After a time they just don't have the reserves needed so I think it's best to do what works and worry about changing that later.
I'm a live feeder so I see no problem with responsible live feeding. F/t or p/k works as well - as long as it works for the snake as much as it does for their owner.
