    I might be able to get some nice slate tile. From what I've read that would be the most natural substrate.

    what do you mean when you say he won't accept other substrates?

    What I meant was that I tried him on carpet, slate, and even shredded coco-fiber (early on) and he would scurry around, trying to 'push' the stuff away and ended up on his house or log refusing to touch the floor. :) Since he stopped doing that and settled down on the sand, that's what I give him. I might try him on something like newsprint and see if he reacts, since I know sand is dangerous. So far (knock on wood) nothing has happened in regards to the sand and he is bright and healthy with good sheds, a fat tail, and small wastes. Thanks for the link, tho, I'll continue keeping a close eye on him.
