Re: Crease Down Ball Python's Belly?
Can you take a picture of your enclosure please?

I noticed something very similar on one of my girls, and it appeared to be where she was wrapped around her hide. The hides I use are those little plastic pot bottoms... http://www.backyardstyle.com/shop/sh...ac4e9588f0.jpg the bottom of that flower pot, flipped upside down has an edge that goes up a bit. When I picked her up one day, she was sorta curled around her hide and i noticed the red line. I assume that it's from that plastic pot bottom, because it's not longer there.

Here are pics of the aquarium I have him in. Temperature is a constant 82ish degrees (Thermostat) and I've got towels on the top which trap enough humidity.

Also, your temps need to be warmer on one side...like 92ish..

what is the humidity? do you have a hygrometer? i've never seen belly rot up close but it looks similar (though not as severe) as pictures i've seen.

I dont want to send this thread off its tracks, but what do you mean the cage is a constant 80 degrees. Throughout the tank? you should have a gradiant of 80-83 on the cool side and 90-95 on the warm side. And are you using a t-stat or reostat on those heat sources?

And sorry, I cant help you on your snake problem.

Ive got the cool end at 80. Havnt checked the hot end but its probbably around 90 because its under the heat lamp and over the heat pad. I've got a T-Stat (ZooMed Repti Temp)

You should never "guess" temps, you should know at a glance what they are. What feels "slightly warm" to our hands may be hot enough to burn our snakes (remember our body temp is 98.6, so even 110 won't feel hot to the touch to us).

You should be measuring with a digital thermometer, both sides of the enclosure.

Why's he in the garage, by the way?

Could be any thing from the snakes version of a belly button to the healing area of an old wound or skin problem

Oh good then my original ideas weren't as far fetched as I thought.:)

But it also means that you really need to get him to the Vet to be sure :(
