Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
I'm sorry I noticed I aksed about the wrong placement what I mean to ask Is about the probe on the thermostat.....When i put it on the actual UTH I can't get the temp up in the tub higher than 83.4 and now i have it on the insdie of tub on the substrate to measure the temp where the snake will actually be and the temp is rising again so should I leave it inside (it is secured so the snake can't move it!)

Yes, place the thermometer probe in the warm side hide. The thermostat probe is fine on the UTH. You want the thermostat probe somewhere secure so that the snake can't move it and cause the temps to fluctuate. Some people will get a small piece of tape and adhere it to the newspaper, but make sure that the tape is stuck well to the newspaper so that if it gets unstuck the newspaper will tear instead of exposing the snake to a sticky piece of tape.
Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
When you say you have the thermostat probe taped to the UTH...on what side of the UTH are you talking about?
Just to make sure it should be sandwhiched between the tub and the UTH...not on the bottom of the UTH facing the desk. Most petstore UTH are somewhat directional (they are insulated to send heat up away from a desk)- meaning the bottom facing the stand/desk will be much cooler then the warm side facing the tub...just want to make sure you have it positioned correctly as this could cause the temp issue you have. :)

Dang I did put it on the wrong side ain't that a B! why didn't I think of that! Thanks for gettin me back on track! So if my temps are right with the Thermostat probe inside the the tub bottom on heated side should I move it to in between tub and UTH?

You don't have to move it since it is working...but here are 2 reasons why you might want to.
1. You said you have it attached down...how? if taped you run the risk of the tape coming loose and getting attached to your snake.
2. It is another wire in the tank that will be in the way when you go to clean...if hooked down then you also run the risk of stuff sticking to it (my snakes always seem to poop on the temp probes forcing me to remove them and try and get them clean.
In the end it is up to you...you can always leave it for now and see if it becomes and issue.
Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
I moved it to between and I can't get the temp to go back up to 90 degrees why is that?
Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
I am Going to turn everything off let the UTH cool down then try it again maybe if the mat starts from cold insted of already heated it may do better! brb

Remember you will need to up the Thermostat setting higher to hold 90' (on top of the substrate) as now you are going through the tub and substrate (with the heat...but measuring at the heat source)...where before you were on top of the substrate.
I like your idea in the next post...cool down then adjust it.
Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
I think I need a better thermostat it won't adjust high enough to reach 90s for some reason when its on the UTH......so i rigged it to the inside without tape tho and its back up! I guess that is the 500R zoo med for u! I will just use it like this till i can afford a better brand....
Re: Help my tub setup is doin worse than glass!
did you try to plug the uth on the other power input slot? try that.
