Re: Does anyone have a diagram or advice on how to setup a rack or rubbermaid container?
Once you pick a brand(Sterilite and Iris are both good and easy to find), then you need to decide what size is appropriate for your snake. If he's a young little guy, a 15qt tub will work great until he's around 500-600g or so. After that you can bump up to a 27-32qt tub and that should last him for quite awhile.

I use the Clearviews which are the 1754 and 1756 tubs. They work great and are very clear like tanks. You will need some small bungee cords to either go all the way around the tub or just to clamp onto the lip under the lid and wrap around the top to the other side. I can get pictures if you need them.
You can get flexwatt and a thermostat here: www.reptilebasics.com
Do you have a digital thermometer yet? WalMart carries one that measures 2 temps and humidity all in one unit, and it's around $11. They are located in the outdoor thermometer section, by the paint and other hardware.
You can also get some spare hides if you need them. I use plastic or clay planter saucers(sit under the pot and catch water). You either cut or knock a hole in the side, flip them upside down, and they are perfect for the snakies. Very easy to clean too. The plastic saucers run between 40 and 60 cents apiece and the clay ones are around the same. I like the plastic because they don't soak up odors, even though some snakes prefer the heaviness. Soaking them in bleach water for a bit fixes that problem :)
You will also need a soldering iron to poke holes in the sides of the tub to allow for air flow. If you have a Big Lots or Dollar General, they should have them for $3 or so. WalMart has them too, but I don't know a price off the top of my head.
