You guys are really awesome. Thank you for all your help. Another question from a spazzing new mum here.. I wish I could say it was the last, but knowing me, I'll freak out over something else eventually. :P He's been making funny noises when he presses his face against things(his dinner, my shirt, etc). It's a "pupffffff pupfffff" noise. It never occurs at any other time except when he's got his face pressed against soft, squishie things. Normal noise? Does it mean anything?

sounds like he might have a infection in the face, cousing the skin and flesh to be tender and senstive... just a guess.

Sorry I haven't been back. I've been busy with my Id. He's been fine and all, but now... I have another question!

He's shedding again, four months after his last shed. Is this normal for his age? I can't seem to find any information about how often ball pythons shed.

There isn't really a shedding schedule. There are many factors that will affect when they shed, such as growth rate, injuries or other health issues, mites, reproductive functions (esp with females).

4 months doesn't seem out of line at all though.

Oh hell, that's a typo. I'm so exhausted today. I think I was trying to say four weeks and one month at the same time.

It has been four WEEKS since his last shed. Please forgive my lapse into stupidity. *headdesk*

4 weeks seems a little soon for a mature male. But, again, there are lots of things that can influence shedding. Does he have or has he had any injuries? Is he putting on weight? I would assume that he probably doesn't have mites, but thats something to watch for too. It may be absolutely nothing to worry about!

I have seen no injuries or mites, but I think he is getting bigger. Thank you for the help. It was just a little odd to see him in the blue so soon!
