Re: how to solve immigration and gas problems
I don't think that would be solving much. I think if you want to solve illegal immigration problems you should look at why they come here in the first place. If it weren't for free trade and the exploitation of Mexican workers, they wouldn't have to come to this country to make a living for themselves. I live up in Northern California and we have a lot of illegals doing the farm work and other DDD jobs. I honestly don't think any other person would do those jobs if they weren't doing them. My personal opinion is that the borders should be open, papers for everyone. If you stop global exploitation by big business then you won't have the situation of people being affected wanting to come into our country.
On a side note, I went to basic training with a Mexican citizen who was doing his 4 years so he could become an American citizen. I read an article on this, and some experts voice concerns that the people who join the service for this reason are only trying to become citizens; thus, they don't benefit the military much.

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use.
The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal
immigrants!
That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas
would come down.
Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border.
When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a
canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq .
Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in
the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on
it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he
defended this country.
He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot.
This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a
solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life
for themselves.
If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, with out the
canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.
This has been around for at least 2 years i remember getting it in my email from an airforce wife who is a friend of mine.
I also agree that we should be stricter with immagration. However I feel there is not enough money available to stop it.
