frankykeno and fishmommy nailed it right on the head. Yes, it was unreasonable of him to come down on you like that...and then to load extra work on you from HIS departement, basically forcing you to do just what he yelled at you for doing in the fisrt place. (Working outside your own department)

Confrontation and getting angry won't work, though. ....I'm trying to think of more advice to offer, but those two covered it too perfectly. I'd go back and read those again. ;) fishmommy has great advice for what to do in the actual moment of getting confronted by an unreasonable authority figure....and frankykeno has excellent advice about how to handle the aftermath.

    Great stuff there, ladies!

I look at it like this I get paid the same whether I'm fabing one job or three or none. If my boss walked in and said he needed me to go run the truck to the shop guess what my pay doesn't go down.

It was wrong of him to use that as discipline. In the future just stay where your supposed to even if some one needs help. Tell them they'll have to clear it with the boss first. :D Make it his decision that you leave or area.

all right here's the deal...It's totally different in the grocery stores. heres maybe why he got mad.Oh..I've been a meat manager for 6 years, and a cutter since 1995.
    1. in northeast ohio its a big union area and were in different locals as they are. so that might be one reason if your a union store.

    2. Alot of time the meat department gets paid more then other employees do, so they expect to to stay in your department do to the fact the "others" employees we'll say "why is he getting paid this much to do the same work as i am".

    3. I know in the store i worked at the other departments really have a different outlook on us in the meat department because we dont have to tie bails, take out trash, run carts, ect..and all we do is stand here and cut meat. maybey he saw an opertunity to bust your balls, and he took it.

It's nice you wanted to help a new person out, but it's prob best if you stay in the meat department and let them worry about training the new people. Just bring it up to the store manager that this person is in need of more training they should get him the help he needs.
