Re: don't know what's going on....
Ouch.. Mark has a daughter, and his ex is pretty good about things. But now that we are marrying, there is some fear that we have that she'll try to get more money out of him/us. He pays his support religiously and buys her extras like clothes, etc. But she is getting into her preteen years and sadly, most time he calls her, she is out with friends or at an afterschool thing, etc. There is nothing like a dad that tries; I wish that my dad did that.

yeah, definitely with you on that one! a lot of how i live my life has to do with me trying NOT to follow my parent's example. which just makes it harder for me to see parents who don't put their children first. just sad.... and aggravating!

Just ignore the crap she give ye guys.if ye think you are doing a good job then you are, once the kid is happy and healthy then you shouldnt worry. My sister is going throu something similar, her ex never calls out to see my neice, and when he does he thinks he is the best dad ever.which he aint cause he always falls behind on child support.

IMO, The best thing you could do is keep a level head and your emotions out of it. Right down everything and educate yourself about child custody laws. It is all about what environment is best for the child. It's gonna be a long hard fight.....

Isn't it? I have a great mom who is an awesome role model, but my dad is different; he is an alcoholic who really had no time for me in my younger days. We are working on building up more of a bond these days, but I do not treat him as a person, say, that I need to call back a second after I get a voicemail from them. I deal with him on my terms.
I hate to see negligent parents. Granted, I don't have kids, but I hear you.
