As seasoned keepers on BPs which type of cage do you prefer?

Not knowing what size BP we will be getting to start with I'm not sure what to do about set up now...Hhhmm I think we are going to go with an animal plastics when it's larger but stick with tubs while smaller.

I know this would be a different thread but at the reptile shows do the breeder usually have baby BP's? I would prefer a baby but we want to get one in person not online.

Lots more to think about now after reading these responses and some threads in the caging forum (sorry I found that forum after posting in this one). Once we decide on what to do I'll post it here for everyone to nit pick for me..LOL. Since we are planning to buy in Daytona in August I would like to have everything set here by the second week of July so I have to start planning now. I'm one of those plan ahead types and be ready for it not fly by the seat of the pants.

Tubs/Racks are the best and most cost effective option but as you noted they aren't really "show" cages.


If a show cage is what you are after I recommend you build one. There are lots of materials to choose from, glass or plexi doors, heating and ventilation are scalable depending on your room environment.

This also allows you to scale it to the size of the animal (of big a bigger one then section it off till your BP grows some)
