    Kevin, et al,

I haven't had ANY problems with having Flurry (almost a year), Kishnah (18+ months) OR Crystal the LTR, at the same humidity and temp settings as the balls and boas. I keep the humidity 45-50% and then up to 60-65% for shedding, and 83*/94*. They're all eating, pooing and shedding just fine.

40-50% is fine for a corn snake, then when the shedding starts just give them a mist.

My snake stays below 30% humidity during non-shedding periods. I've tried increasing the humidity by misting, but it doesn't do much good. My grandmother let me use the humidifier and the humidity is currently 35%. My corn does just fine with low humidity. Anything between 30% and 50% is good.

Thanks for the link to the care sheet. I have been thinking more about adding a corn snake to our small collection of one snake - we have a BP.

Can anyone tell me how corn snakes compare to ball pythons in terms of personality, handleability, and docile nature? The care sheet mentioned that they can be "squirmy or defensive" but "with care and gentle handling most easily mature into calm, docile adults."

Can someone give me a comparison of ball pythons vs. corns on temperment?

    Thanks!

Some corns, especially when they're hatchlings, can be a little flighty and squirmish. But pretty much all of them calm down very quickly and become absolute joys to handle. But just like with bps, there are a couple of spawns of Satan that never quite become "friendly". But they're great snakes; I think they're underrated by too many people.

Do you think I should go with a breeder if we decide to get one, or is a pet store OK?

A breeder, unless you have an awesom pet store near you (not PetCo, etc). If you have a local breeder near you then check them out or go to a show. But you can always look online, too. Tons of very awesome corn snake breeders. I just think it's worth the extra money to get an animal that is healthy and will thrive for you - plus they come in just about every color you can think of.

Check out www.cornsnakes.com in their for sale section. Theres always the "Big 3": www.serpenco.com, www.cornsnakes.net, www.corn-utopia.com
