Jay, thank you... She is a very pretty bird. I think birds of prey are amazing.

Falconry is :1.the sport of hunting with falcons, hawks, eagles, etc.; hawking. 2.the art of training hawks to hunt.
You have to be licensed by the federal government and by your state to fly them.. I am also licensed by the federal gov to breed them as well. Its a long process to do what I do but worth every min of it:D

    Tyree,
thank you for the compliments. I can get close to them as they are all captive born. They do get very defensive if you get clost to the eggs. I can not go near the nest as they will take my head off. If you look at the egg picture you can see the mom is guarding them.:sabduel:.. let me tell you those talons are razor sharp. I have had a few sunk into my hand a time or two

Congrats, Chris! Raptors are a passion I have had since I was young girl. One day when I have the time and space, I will look into getting the permits and all that is required to own them. Momma is gorgeous and I am happy for you that they decided to breed.

We did an Outreach show for Earth Day and got to meet a few raptors from the WSU Raptor program. It was spectacular and amazing to see them.

I look forward to seeing these guys hatch and develop. It's amazing how they go from darn ugly to stunning in such a short time.

The will hatch in 30 days. I hope anyways.. I sure hope they are fertile???

I was fortunate enough to volunteer at a wildlife rehab center. I loved the work more than I can say. Most of my experience is with feeding and holding for vet checks, although I did get to give a couple shots. I had to work my way up from Robins, crows, and various other birds to the raptors. My first experience was with a Great Horned Owl, and I was amazed at how light they were. Not to mention I thought she was going to take off with me. Very impressive animals.
