If you cannot get it off with soaking, you are not doing everything right. I got a snake with 3 full layers of stuck shed many months ago and a good soaking and rub down got EVERYTHING off, eye caps included. If your vet suggests touching your snake's eye with tape for any reason all because of one eye cap, I suggest finding a new vet. As Becky already said, an eye cap will not hurt the snake unless it has been there for quite some time and is becoming infected.

Try these 2 things.
1. Soak your snake for an hour in lukewarm water. Put it in a moist pillow case and tie it off. It will slither around for a little while and the eye cap should easily come off in the pillow case.
2. Soak your snake for an hour in lukewarm water. Put a damp washcloth in one hand and let him slither through it a few times. As moist as his old shed will be after the soak, it should come off with ease.

I agree here, I had a snake that I took in and he looked pathetic with all of his layers of shed! I soaked him and started cleaning him off. I took a big chunk of his skin that came off and seperated them once they dried. He had 6 layers of stuck shed...it was pathetic!

His eyes were litterally silver from all of the stuck shed. But just keeping his humidity up and such, they came off fine with his next shed, now he's perfect!

Right! During his next shed cycle, the skin over his eyes will be between his eye itself and the old shed. When that one comes off, they both come off.
