    Holbeird,
Most of the granites I've seen have some type of striping going on like towards the lower half of the body.

Is that snake aggressive? Does it eat extremely well? These are a couple of the characteristics I've seen granites display. I've also heard they breed really early I know from personal experience that I bought a 650g 05' female in August feed her up real good and she was the first to drop eggs from me this year 7 of them all perfect. (My #1 clutch ever!) so I love granites

    Help this helps?

If that snake isn't a granite no big deal there are tons coming over from africa and i'm sure you could find a nice one for a very good price with a little hunting

Yeah, I'm positive it's from Africa. I got it at a show even though I promised myself I wasn't gonna bring two snakes home ;-p The guy claims they're CB babies and that they've had a few meals in them, but with the numbers that he had and how early it is in the season, there's just no way :-p

He's not aggressive that I know of, but my wife said he did try and bite our roommate the day we got him, I didn't see it though.

He slammed the rat pink as soon as I dropped it in his tub :)

As far as the stripe on it's back, he's got a stripe on his back starting just above his vent and going down to his tail.

I dont know if he's a granite or not but we'll see. If he keeps eating as awesome as he is now, maybe sooner than I thought :)

Yours has the granite speckling, but as mention above, lacks some of the other goodies that granites have. Here's what I'm talking about...

Here's cuestyle shot of the speckling

    Full body

Belly shot...definitely different than a normal

Check out the head...the brown on the head is a distinctly different color than the black on its body

    Hope this helps...

Here is a pic of my granite girl and you can see head color, break in neck pattern etc..

Here is a pic of one my girls sitting on some eggs. You can see she has speckling on her and although she is not a granite the speckling was genetic and showed up on some of her babies, so don't be discouraged. Although she is not a textbook granite the speckling could still be genetic.

Personally I'd call it a granite even if it doesn't meet all of the criteria that someone else decided on. It's got the granite speckling and to me thats the main reason for calling them granites in the first place, not the head color or the belly pattern or whatever else. Sure, it's not as extreme as some but it's definatly there.
