:( I'm always saddened by stuff like this. It was just a question... it didn't harm you a bit. Get over yourself!

Looks like a nice coastal to me, too.

If you want a definitive answer, post her pic on the morelia forums. Lots of people there that breed and have all the different types and they could for sure give you an answer

First to the dude that jumped the guys case for asking about a morph chill out, all the person who made the OP really wanted to know is what he had.

Second it is hard to tell with Pics some times, because they tend to show more contrast then the animal has if done in good light and a good flash and exposure. BUT if the snakes looks to the eye pretty much like that and I was FORCED to guess my personal best guess (and I am no Morelia expert) would be a Irian and Costal Cross.

Third and I am not nit picking just figure the orginal poster wants to learn. Terms like Irian and Costal are not actually "morphs" the are more accurately a "color phase".

Sort of like a Snow Corn or a Motley Corn are "morphs" while a Okeetee or Miami are just naturaly occuring color phases of the corn snake. In the same way Jungle, Costal, Centralian and Irian Jaya are not "morphs" just naturaly occuring "phases" that are mostly rooted in geography.

A morph carpet would be like a "jaguar" or a amel (though there has only been one so far and it did not breed). Morphs are snakes that are in some way different from naturaly occuring patterns or perhaps have been selectively bred to enhance some natural trait.

For instance jungle carpets are black and yellow in the wild but have been selectively bred to the point where a high yellow with all solid black could honeslty be called a morph.

Again I am not being anal or anything just seems like a good post to be accurate on this subject with.

First of all, DUDE take a chill pill!!! While those of us that has been around on any forum for a while can attest, these type of questions come up all the time. Yes, it can be frustrating, but there is no excuse for you to be rude about it. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. (Sound familiar?)

I agree that it is very hard to get a very accurate feel for a snake from pics. If I had to put money on it though, I would say that it is a jungle x coastal. It sure has a lot of coastal influence to it though.

Actually, Irian and coastal are not "morphs" or "color phases", they are different subspecies.

Coastal carpets are Morelia spilota mcdowelli.
Jungle carpets are M. s. cheynei.
Irian Jayas (West Papuans) are M. s. variegata. Sometimes you will find them referred to as M. s. harrisoni, but this name has yet to be accepted by most in the scientific community.
Centralians (Bredl's python) are distinct enough from the other carpets that it has been designated it's own species, M. bredli.

And Snakeman, welcome to the other forum as well.
