    That is absolutely fabulous, Aleesha!!

What kind of materials do you use to put something like that together and where do you get them? I'd LOVE to learn more about making something like that myself. Although I can't imagine creating anything as beautiful as yours!

oh judy you totally could do it! i was blessed with a very talented friend  who really pulled this altogether. the hardest part was the muddying... getting it off in time and to the right thickness... what a messy job!

uni... i love uni's... come live with ME!

okay, so first you buy the sheets of glass and find someone to cut them for you. probably cheaper than buying your own cutter etc but if you are going to do lots then definitely get a cutter for yourself.

once you have the glass... you get some clear silicone (if you are putting it on glass or wood). it must be clear because the silicone will show through the glass pieces. when you put the silicone on each individual piece of glass be sure to cover it well but not so well it swooshes out the sides... cause if it's not covered well enough... the grout will get underneath and look horrible.

so you figure out your pattern, draw it on the piece of wood or glass (if needed) - we only drew on the pentacle so the dimensions would be right and left the rest to intuition and creativity.

set out all your pieces... and once you have them in place, you start to silicone.

when you have all of the pieces in place, you leave it overnight to dry completely. in the morning... check each piece to make sure it's on tight. if it's loose, it'll come off during the mudding.

then you just mix up your mud according to the directions... we use a sanded black grout. remember that dark colours will pop the colour of the glass whereas light colours will draw the eye to the mud!

once the mudding is done (hard job, very messy and you need a few people... one just to keep getting new clean buckets of water [DO NOT POUR DIRTY WATER DOWN THE SINK AS IT'LL RUIN YOUR PIPES IN THE HOUSE... DUMP IT IN THE YARD]) - then you buff it up. and VOILA you have an amazing piece!!!

honestly, without my friend... i couldn't have done it. she's a gifted artist and i am truly blessed to have this piece of her in my home forever! to my jeni-peni

thanks for all your wonderful comments - i am thrilled to read them :carrot: :sunny: :P
